Director of Member Relations and Communication

The Director or Member Relations and Communications serves as the first point of contact for membership related questions. In addition to recruiting and onboarding new Ontario County Chamber of Commerce members, the Director will also be tasked with maintaining records, tracking membership figures and ensuring members satisfaction.

General Responsibilities: Responsible for managing Chamber Membership and Communications

1. Member Relations:

  • Actively recruit and onboard prospective Chamber members and maintain current Chamber membership
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit new members
  • Handle all questions and information requests regarding membership via phone calls, through email and in-person
  • Develop member engagement plan with new and existing Chamber members to ensure benefits are being utilized their fullest extent
  • Work with members to ensure continued enjoyment, value and success (i.e. retention)
  • Process all member applications, renewals and resignations
  • Overall data management: Collect data, track membership statistics, maintain and update records, and prepare reports as requested
  • Utilize CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software to generate reports related to membership as requested
  • Work with the Director of Events to organize events and activities for existing and prospective members

2. Communications:

  • Prepare membership marketing materials
  • Manage ad sales for Megaphone and Sponsored Emails
  • Plan and create Social Media content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Assist with press releases on behalf of the Ontario County Chamber
  • Create and implement member satisfaction surveys and monitor results

3. Other duties:

  • Attend and assist the Director of Events during member-related events which may be before, during or after office hours
  • Greet and assist guests in the Visitor Center on an as needed basis
  • Administrative liaison for Ambassadors and Internal Affairs Committee, including but not limited to, creating agendas and taking minutes

Education and Experience:
- Minimum Associates Degree or equivalent work experience. Education or experience in outside sales, business administration and relationship management.

Skills Required:

  • A strong communicator with a talent for building relationships between members and the Ontario County Chamber
  • Passionate and ease in establishing relationships and building community
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong use of and comfortability with Microsoft Suite
  • Previous experience with member management software or CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Systems preferred
  • Website editing and social media experience preferred.
  • Basic graphic design experience preferred
  • Ability to think creatively and take initiative
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Able to multi-task in a dynamic environment
  • Able to relate effectively with people of various background

-37.5 hour per week
